The First Week

We are having a great week in Kindergarten!  We have our full schedule up and running this week and have started reading and writing workshop, math, literacy and centers.  Here are a few things we are working on...

In reading workshop we are working with our talk partners.  We are learning to sit together, share books and read together until Mrs. Nagel says that reading workshop is over. We have talked about choosing books we both agree on. Next week we will work on how to solve problems with your talk partner and reading the pictures. I will talk a lot more about this at open house next week.

In writing workshop we are working on writing for the whole writers workshop time to build stamina, how to tell a story in a "book", telling a story about something that really happened to you and using our writing folders. Next week we will be working on writing ideas and oral story telling.

We started Go Math on Monday.  I will send their class work home with them periodically for you to see and I will be sending homework home beginning tonight. The directions are at the bottom of the page.


Open House will be a great opportunity for me to tell you about the expectations in kindergarten. I will talk to you about ways you can help your child at home as well.
